A.S. Face 1463: Ian
Hi my name is Ian, I’m a 40 year old father of 3 from Newcastle upon Tyne England, i was diagnosed about 5 years ago after 7 years of going back and forth to rheumatologists, doctors etc, and was beginning to be made to feel i was going mad, or some sort of hypochondriac, i persisted and was referred to a professor of rheumatology who knew what was wrong with me after 2 appointments! I was confirmed with AS via MRI evidence of inflammation in my SI joints, The relief that i finally knew what was wrong with me and it wasn’t all in my head after all was fantastic, I was able to start on enbrel, but couldn’t continue as i developed a rare form of cutaneous lymphoma, so rare infact my case was made into a poster for a medical conference, (don’t worry, I haven’t let the fame go to my head
) so now i am unable to try any more biologicals and amongst all that, my marriage broke down! But almost a year on from that, i am stronger than before and refuse to let my condition get the better of me, I’m in a new relationship with a wonderful woman that understands my disease and limitations, so no matter what hand life deals you, don’t ever give upEngland, United Kingdom
