A.S. Face 0677: Scot A. Shaw
My name is Scot I’m from Liberty Mounds Oklahoma and I have AS. I was diagnosed with AS in 2009 and returning from a deployment in Iraq. I am sending you this email from a tent in southern Afghanistan. It was a struggle to get the doctors to stop half AS examining me and telling me that back pain comes with being in the Army. I had a few ask me what kind of pain killers I was looking for because they could find nothing medically wrong with me. I am fused from my hips to my neck. It is hard to explain to people the amount of pain you endure just getting out of bed everyday when they can’t see any physical proof.
I just wanted to let everyone else with AS know to keep fighting.
