A.S. Face 0090: Marie McLoud

A.S. Face 0090: Marie McLoud

I am a “face” of AS!
I was diagnosed in 2008, after a car accident in 2006.  I just didn’t feel I was getting better.  After several trips to the chiropractor, it just wasn’t feeling better.  I went to my primary care physician, who sent me for an MRI.  After reviewing my MRI, she asked me to “humor” her and get the HLA-B27 test.  It came back positive.
I take NSAIDS regularly, and am trying to wean myself off of medications.  I have had some success, since I know that too many NSAIDS and other meds will affect the organs.  I am a fighter, and I will succeed.  I fight pain every day, and sometimes it gets very frustrating.
I always feel better when I keep a bit more active, otherwise “rigor mortis” sets in, but I do get tired very easily.  The double-edged sword.
I have always had back problems since the day I was born, and now it is nice to be able to put a name to a “face”.
