A.S. Face 1822: Nick Samsel
My name is Nick Samsel. I was diagnosed with AS due to iritis back in November 2016. Actually Thanksgiving week. I missed Thanksgiving with my family because I was told I had pink eye and should be quarantined. I’ve suffered from back pain from my early 20’s to this day. I just always thought it was from something I had done or car wrecks I’ve been part of. It was hard for me to accept it because prior to my diagnosis I had made a life change. I was on a diet of chicken rice and veggies and running 3-4 miles a day. The iritis kept me in my bedroom for a week. When it cleared up I’ve not been as dedicated as before. Tomorrow I’m going back to it. I have an 8 year old daughter and want to be able to remain active for her.
