A.S. Face 1284: Patia Smith
My name is Patia Smith aka Smitty. I’m 37 yrs old, no human babies but I do have 5 fur babies. I was diagnosed 4/23/3014 with AS. I also have Fibromyalgia & Restless Leg Syndrome. I’m also a T2 Diabetic. I’m lucky to have an awesome support system consisting of Family & Friends who help me as much as they can. Of course there are always times (usually at night) when the pain sets in from daily activity that I feel “wimpy.” I think of all the simple things that I would never think twice about doing that now I just can’t do them, well not “can’t” just plan “not able” to do them. The saddest is that there are a lot of times that I can’t hold my great nieces & nephews because it hurts or I get spasms & I’m afraid I’ll drop them. I’m always one for keeping a smile on my face & joking around (life is too serious at times) but I refuse to let ANY disease or disorder keep me down. I’m always the one who will listen & talk to anyone who needs an ear or shoulder to cry on. I’m a positive person who believes you either have the choice to lay down or stand up when life throws too much your way and I will forever choose to stand up & fight it. Thanks for the support your site provides, it truly is a wonderful feeling knowing others know what you’re feeling when even your closest support team will never fully understand what daily chronic pain feels like.
