A.S. Face 0846: Erin

A.S. Face 0846: Erin

Face 846
My name is Erin. I am 31 and I have AS. I was diagnosed late in 2008. I had symptoms of AS for roughly 5 years before my diagnosis. I first started noticing how difficult it was to get up out of bed in the morning. My nights consisted of being uncomfortable, trying to move and silent tears. I would struggle through every day tasks. Numerous doctor appointments later and no resolution. I was consistently told I pulled a muscle, I need to stretch, I need to see a chiropractor every day for the rest of my life. I was convinced I was the only person in the world that was going through this and I didn’t know what ‘this’ was. No one did! My life turned around when I finally found someone to listen. My gynecologist scheduled me a visit with a rheumatologist. After a couple of tests I received the best news ever. I wasn’t crazy and there was a name for ‘this’. I was going to be OK! After a year of being on Humira my doctor switched me to Remicade and I have been on that since 2009. I get infusions every 8 weeks. I look forward to being a part of this wonderful group of people.
Thank you all for reading my story and providing me with an opportunity to tell it.
