A.S. Face 0801: Steve Mieras

A.S. Face 0801: Steve Mieras

Face 801
My name is Steve Mieras, 52 years old, and I first was diagnose with a positive HLA-B27 Blood Antigen when I was 17. My mother gave birth to me 8 weeks early and I was a premature baby with a weight of 2 lbs., 6 oz.
I grew up on a farm in Sparta, MI, and moved to Grand Rapids when I was 8.
At  6 years old, I jumped from a bedroom window, and the next morning I was paralyzed partially from the waist down. The Hospital ran X rays and did a Bladder test(Catheter) and all test were negative. In 1966, many Hospitals unknowingly introduced Klebsiella Bacteria through catheters. Well what a coincidence, that this Bacteria in the colon feeds on the undigested starch fermentation, which eventually turns into bony fusion on the spine and other cell tissues. Most people with AS carry a normal amount of Klebsiella, and your immune system desperately tries to keep it in check. Get your C Reactive Protein Level checked next time you have a blood test and ask your Dr. what this means !
I played a lot of sports as a teenager and noticed when I would get light headed, and then the lower spine nerves were flaring up. Determined to overcome, I made a daily stretching routine that allowed me to become very flexible, but it was also very painful, but I persisted.
When entering college, I was put on Feldene, a strong Anti inflammatory, which really upset my stomach, but I lived a normal, painful life and graduated. When I was 15, I injured my coccyx bone at a roller skating party, and had bladder and urinary sensitivity after that which has never gone away.
In 2008, after an active career in Sales and Business Ownership, I started to research AS through the World Wide Web. I soon found the Kings College of Immunology and Dr. Alan Ebringer was mentioned several times, so I emailed him and he responded and sent me copies of extensive research documents with very credible resources. It seems in European Countries, it’s common for an allergy test to find food and air born sensitivities. Well, little did I know, but I am allergic to the Wheat Germ when processed (ground up) and Gluten. When I experimented with a Starch Free Diet, I noticed an immediate reduction in throat and teeth inflammation, my stools were normal and flora good, and my bouts with Iritis and Vertigo had disappeared. Even my skin (psoriasis) and prostrate felt better. I self determined that I was reducing the amount of Klebsiella Bacteria Growth, just like Dr. Ebringer had mentioned from London’s King College of Immunology.
Today I feel the best I have in years even though my 12 fused bones will stay that way. My gut, where the immune system resides, is better, mainly because I eat all Organic Foods and take many nutrients including a Pro Biotic, Greek Yogurt and NutriLite(Amway) Vitamins. I stretch and do strengthening exercises for 3 hours a day. I am blessed to be functioning and appreciate every day and my goal is get early diagnosis for all the youngsters out there, so they can learn how to be healthy and avoid “feeding their disease”.
