A.S. Face 0783: Rodel Ciobanu

A.S. Face 0783: Rodel Ciobanu

Face 783
Hi all,
I started having pains in the lower back since 1998 and my first doctor diagnosed it as a normal wear & tear on my l4-l5 vertebrae, in his opinion a common problem on people working in the building industry. By 2003 I was having pains all along my spine and left hip but I tried to ignore it because I thought that it is just a normal pain caused by physical work and I am not a person to complain much. Finally in 2007, after I lost movement on my neck and most of my lower back, I went back to the doctors and  I was officially diagnosed with AS. A touch too late because by this time my cervical spine was fused and the rest of the spine, hips and rib cage were affected. Since then, it progresses rapidly, the specialists are surprised of the calcium deposit on my vertebrae and joints telling me that I was supposed to get to this stage when I was close to 70 years of age….well I just turned 48…bad luck I guess. To cut a long story short, I fight this pain 24/7  and it will never defeat me…I still go to work and I will until I won’t be able to move anymore. Anyway, I wrote this out of respect for all other AS sufferers that had the courage to tell their story and I hope they will never forget that they are not alone!
I wanted to let you all know that Rodel Ciobanu Face 0783 passed away on October 29, 2013.
